Does anyone think the media is unbiased? Mainstream and social media companies who are significant contributors to the Democrat party are acting more like law firms defending Joe Biden than news organizations. From censorship to outright lying, the leftist media has become an enemy to the truth. Many journalists and Democrat operatives work interchangeably with one another and have consequently thrown journalistic ethics out the window. Instead of doing what’s right and honestly reporting the news, they have chosen to misinform their audiences for political purposes.
The media can influence people’s opinions; it also shapes our view of society and the process by which we chose political leaders and helps maintain our values. But in promoting what it feels is more palatable for the public to accept, it fails to cover the issues appropriately. Unfortunately, the media’s predominantly left ideology tends to cloud its judgments, causing extreme bias in its reporting. As a consequence, people are being censored for opposing viewpoints.
As Glenn Greenwald pointed out, Twitter’s justification for censoring the Biden story if applied evenly would have prevented the release of the Pentagon Papers, Wikileaks, Snowden Docs, Panama Papers, and many of histories most significant journalistic efforts. One of the significant policies driving these actions is how they interpret acceptable speech.
One of the best examples demonstrating the mindset of mainstream and social media is the words of Richard Allen. Allan, Facebook’s Vice President of Policy, once stated that instead of using the First Amendment for guidance on speech restrictions, they follow Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), which sets standards for when it’s appropriate to place restrictions on freedom of expression. Unlike the Constitution, the ICCPR provides room for massive restrictions on Freedom of Speech. Under ICCPR standards, speech can be stifled to respect others’ rights and reputation, the public order, and public health and morals. This is the problem with these tech firms; they feel international law supersedes the Constitution when it doesn’t. Worth noting is the same Constitution the media readily discards, allows them to be a free press, even if they are not fair.
The media doesn’t report actual news; they regurgitate acceptable narratives. This is best illustrated amid the dueling town halls between President Trump and Joe Biden. While Savannah Guthrie repeatedly badgered Trump over asking him to denounce white supremacists, which he has done on many occasions, Joe Biden was never asked about the scandal involving him and his son Hunter or his stance on ANTIFA. They were not trying to break down what each candidate truly believes, but took this opportunity to attack Trump while doing an infomercial for Joe Biden.
They have no intention of allowing their viewers to understand Trump’s views and accomplishments because it would destroy the fake narrative they’ve worked so hard to construct. Joe Biden continually lost the ability to talk when answering questions and started speaking gibberish that made no sense. But that is not the headline from the media. The headline deals with the fake white supremacist attack, which has been debunked on multiple occasions.
Allum Bokhari’s new book, “#Deleted: Big Tech’s Battle to Erase the Trump Movement and Steal the Election,” hits upon the silencing of right-wing voices by the media. If you create a set of rules, then they should be enforced evenly. Yet the media is blatantly applying a double standard because the guidelines only apply to those disagreeing with them.
“Freedom of speech is a principal pillar of a free government: When this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved,”
– Benjamin Franklin
“If men are to be precluded from offering their sentiments on a matter, which may involve the most serious and alarming consequences that can invite the consideration of mankind, reason is of no use to us; the freedom of speech may be taken away, and dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep, to the slaughter.”
– George Washington,
Weeks before an election, the media cannot allow voters to find out who Joe Biden truly is, so they do everything they can to suppress that information. If there was ever a case to be made for journalism being dead, this is that time. With the suppression of one of the fundamental freedoms we enjoy as Americans, the media has become a mouthpiece for the Democrat party while neglecting their intended role in society.
